Here at Who Knows Wins we are all about the fans, so for our Premier League Preview we have handed the pen over to the fans. We have asked an avid supporter from each club to give us their predicted final league position and the reasons why.
Here's what they think...
Liverpool - Ashley Charlton, 35 years a Liverpool fan
A champions league hangover? Liverpool prediction: 2nd
It’s not a bold prediction, the top two positions in the Premiership this season will once again be held by Liverpool and Manchester City.
Liverpool’s champions league heroics coupled with the summer international commitments of Salah, Mane and Bobby has meant little down time for a side who play high tempo football. Throw in the Super Cup and World Club Cup and it’s a lot of football. I’m predicting a slow start to the season for the reds, no defeats but a few draws, momentum will move City’s way, leaving must win games in November and April against the league champions to stay in contention
Liverpool will need to eclipse their 97 point haul of last season to be in with a chance. A tall order given the limited off season and commitments. Kloop may regret not making at least one marquee signing this summer, particularly in midfield, where goals have been lacking.
I’m predicting another wonderful season, 90 plus points but once again a runners up spot.
Prediction = 2nd
Chelsea – Alyssa Knab, Chelsea fan.
Frank Lampard impressed at Pride Park for his first season as a manager, and he is now new to the Premier League. This season, expectations are lower than they were in previous years and the transfer ban given to Chelsea by FIFA has not been helping the club this summer. However, the ban could be a blessing in disguise as it will offer stability and Lampard will be forced to depend on young but talented players such as Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham.
With Hazard gone to Madrid, you can also expect the likes of Ross Barkley and newly signed Christian Pulisic to step up and try to fill Hazard’s boots.
Chelsea’s main issues last season were related to performance and players’ mindset. Is there anyone else better than Lampard to motivate the players? I don’t think so. Without exaggerating, Lampard could motivate a fish to walk on the pavement.
It will be difficult for Chelsea to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool, but this season, the players will be surrounded by a fantastic coaching staff - Morris, Edwards, Newton to name a few - all ‘proper Chels’ and with ambition to promote youth. They all know Chelsea inside out and have the knowledge to succeed, which is why I see the Blues not giving up so easily for a place in the top four.
Prediction = 4th
Man Utd - Connor Pinches, season ticket holder
Some might say optimistic (others deluded) but I feel genuinely positive about seeing a good improvement this season. We've made some improvements, sure, but the biggest win is the lack of activity from our close rivals.
Arsenal are even worse at the back than United were before AWB and Maguire and Chelsea have lost their best player and are struggling for strikers.
Who knows, if Spurs do their usual bottle job 3rd could even be in on the cards!
Truth be told, I'll take any improvement on 6th if the football is exciting and we see some young talent coming through.
In Ole we trust!
Prediction = 4th
